Love Drunk Sims 4 Style: Chapter Seventeen

Chapter Seventeen: Sweet Katie

***WARNING: NSFW IMAGES HALF WAY DOWN***

It was a week into January and Dexter was missing Lainie terribly. She was due back any day now after spending two weeks at her parents house in Brindleton Bay. The last contact he'd had with her was very late on Christmas Eve, after finding those texts and being filled in about CookieRok he had asked her if they were in love...

...his heart raced at the thought of her reply, they were! He wanted so desperately to keep messaging her but his mum gave him a row for having his phone at the dinner table on Christmas Day. Then Ash got really drunk and started to mope over Erin, meaning Dexter had to dedicate all of his time to his lovelorn brother. They'd spent a few days at their mum's, Dexter's birthday was the day before New Year's Eve and they ended up waiting until 2nd January to go back home to the old warehouse. As Dex sat in the living room hoping that today was the day Lainie and Roxy came back, he wondered what he was going to say to her. He wondered if she'd finally had time to realise that dumping Alex was the best thing she could ever do. He still hadn't forgotten about his disgusting deed.

As he was stewing over Alex Wilder he heard the front door open and a bunch of voices all speaking at once. Closing his eyes and taking deep breaths, he hoped so much that it was his freckles.

There she stood, surrounded by Ash, Matt, Drew and Charlotte. Roxy was hugging Matthew and chatting away like only Roxy could, while Lainie was being polite with the others who interrogated her, but looking around the hall...

...and when she spotted him, smiling and waving shyly she called to him, "Hi Dexy! Happy New Year!" He wanted to run to her, scoop her up in his arms and suffocate her with kisses. He loved her, even though he had blanks in his memory of their friendship, he knew that he was completely and utterly in love with her. As she made her way through the group of housemates to him carrying a gift box, their eyes were fixed on each other as all he could think of was her reply to his question on Christmas Eve. They said nothing, all they could hear were the others' voices.

Then she handed the box to him, "Happy Birthday for the other day!" She blushed and looked at the ground but she took her time taking her hands away from his, "It's nothing special!"
"Thank you freckles I...how did you..."
"Dexy you're the one with memory loss not me!" She laughed softly, and it was a beautiful sound that warmed his heart.

As he opened it, a huge smile spread across his face, "Freckles, this is special, what are you talking about? I love it!" It was a photo of the two of them, they made such a cute couple if he did say so himself. She should be with me not that fucking Alex!

"It was the day you got the record contract and we went to your mum's for dinner. Ash and Erin had..."
"...just come out as a couple, yeah I remember!"
"You're getting there then?" Dexter wished he could say he was, but the truth was that snippets were all he had.
"Slowly." He smiled, now how and when to broach CookieRok.

"Freckles..." Just as he was about to do it, Roxy butted into their conversation.
"Maloney, you look just as stupid as ever I see!"
"Roxanne, such a pleasure to see you again!"
"You two are a pair of children, you do realise that right?" Lainie laughed and headed into her room. Damn! Dexter shot Roxy an angry look and she blinked back at him,
"What?"

Lainie was glad that Dexy hadn't mentioned their text exchange on Christmas Eve. As a soft knock on her door jolted her out of her relief, she realised she'd left her bag in the hall. It was probably Roxanne bringing it to her.

"Hey!" It was not Roxanne, it was in fact Dexter.
"H-hi, was there something..."
"We need to talk!" Oh shit!
"We do? Did I do something..."
"Evelyn this is important and you know it, we can't put it off any longer!" No, he was right, they couldn't.

They sat on her bed in silence for a few minutes until Dexter finally spoke, "So I asked you if we were in love and you said that we were..."
"Dexy, you have to understand the difference."
"Difference?" He shook his head in confusion.
"Yes, between us and CookieGurl and Born2Rok."

"Um, they're the...s-same...p-people!" Dexter looked extremely puzzled by this.
"No, Dexy we're not. We were pretending to be other people on that forum you and me. So yes those characters were in love, you and me? We're very dear friends and the whole CookieGurl and Born2Rok thing almost destroyed our friendship!" Dexter put his head down and nodded sadly, she was sticking with Alex.

"Dexy I don't ever want that to happen again, so we have to draw a line under that whole thing for the sake of our very special friendship. You hated me for what I did, I hated you, it was a horrible time and we made some stupid mistakes!"

"But those things we said..."
"Were two people unaware of who the other person was or what the consequences would be if they ever did meet up. Dexy we managed to salvage our friendship despite hurting each other very deeply and I promised myself that I would never lie to you ever again!"

"You're lying right now!"
"What? how?" He knew she loved him, he knew she was pretending not to, and it made him so mad.
"Never mind! Please tell me you're not going back to that Alex?"
"Dexy..."
"He's dangerous freckles, he's a downright nasty guy and you are not safe around him!" Lainie stared at Dexter for a long time, wondering if it was the head injury or if he was just crazy.

"I think you should go before either of us says something we can't take back!"
"Freckles..."
"No Dexy, I'm tired from travelling, we'll discuss this later!" Dexter looked down like a scolded school boy and left Lainie alone.

She had no intentions of discussing that ever again. She wasn't going to call Alex, she wasn't going to contact him at all, hopefully he was gone this time for good. She just had to lay low and hope for the best.

Dexter was angry, he couldn't believe Lainie was brushing their online romance under the carpet. As he walked through town trying to clear his head he spotted a very familiar figure sitting on a bench looking sad. She was older now, but it was definitely her.

"Katie?" She looked up and her face was stained with tears.
"Dexter?"
"Katie are you okay?"

"Oh Dexter, I've screwed up everything so badly I..." She fell into his arms weeping, and his anger towards her just melted away. It had been almost twenty years and she'd hardly changed.

"What's the matter? What are you doing in Newcrest? Do you live here?"
"Dexter I have to tell you something and...oh God I deserve everything I get!"

"Oh sweet Katie, what's happened?" She looked up into his eyes and sniffed,
"You look so good, still so handsome. Those baby blues always did make me weak! Please try not to hate me too much?"

They sat on the bench while Katie confirmed what Dexter had always feared, that Jeremy had told her he was cheating on her and made her dump him. She'd been with Jeremy ever since and now she was miserable, he was abusive and cruel and had isolated her from her family and friends gradually over the space of twenty years. The worst part was yet to come though, as she rubbed her belly and wept. "And now I'm pregnant, I can't have his child! I'll be forever glued to him! Oh Dexter I'm so sorry!"

"Hey, shh now. It's okay, you can stay with me until you get back on your feet. There's a spare room at the moment, you're very welcome to it, and the best part? Jeremy won't come anywhere near!" She smiled sadly and nodded in acceptance.
"Thank you, but I need you to do something for me."
"Anything!" She looked him deeply in the eyes and her smile disappeared.

"I've left him, I can't ever go back! I'm going to have a termination, will you come with me? I don't want to do it alone!" Dexter was shocked, he hated Jeremy Price for everything he'd done to him in the past, but to get rid of his child behind his back? Could Dexter really be part of that?
"Katie..." Dexter squeezed his eyes shut, "...have you thought this through?"
"YES! I cannot have this baby Dexter, I just can't!" Her body trembled and she sobbed in his arms.

Finally he agreed to go with her, it wasn't something he was happy about. He didn't like lying to anyone, no matter who they were, but if it was what Katie needed to do then he'd be there. Like she said, having a child with Jeremy would connect them forever. Was it fair to bring a child into the life of Jeremy Price? Was it fair to subject that child to such a shitty man who would most probably be an even shittier father? "Okay I'm here for you Katie, anything you need!"

After helping Katie retrieve the essential things from her flat while Jeremy was out, Dexter took her back to his place where he settled her into Erin's room. Ash would probably have some things to say about it but tough. Katie looked at him with those pretty eyes of hers and smiled, pulling him into a hug. "You're still so sweet Dexter Maloney, even after I treated you like dirt. I don't deserve your kindness."
"I loved you once, I can't just turn my back on you!"

"Loved, past tense. Of course I know there's been many girls after me, Jeremy told me. Emma, Kimberly, Becca, Hayley, Rosalie..." She rhymed them off on her fingers with an impish smirk.
"Yeah yeah okay I was a man whore back at university, I'm not anymore. There's a...special someone in my life now!" Katie looked sad.
"Does she know how special you are Dexter?"

Dexter thought about his conversation with Lainie earlier and it made him angry, "Nope, she's in denial of our mutual feelings right now. She has a shitty boyfriend like you do, and for some reason she'd rather have him treating her like dirt than have me! Go figure!" He gave her an accusatory nod and she blushed.
"Dexter I...I messed up. Jeremy always acted like the misunderstood misfit. A few months into our relationship he started getting nasty..."

"...within two years he was slapping me around. Back in high school I was happy, confident and I was comfortable in my own skin. Most of that was down to you by the way!" Her mouth curved into a half smile and she punched him lightly on the arm, "Dexter you're so beautiful inside and out, how could I ever believe you'd cheat on me? You were so pure and honest back then...you still are!"

"Well Jeremy can be very convincing. Just ask Drew about how I fell for his lies multiple times. I always made excuses for him, Ash and Drew would flip out and I'd still stick up for Jeremy! I understand, he makes you want to see the good in him when there really is no good to be found! Katie, I loved you so much when we were together and you were the only girl for me. I hope you truly know that!" Katie nodded and she looked so sad,
"Yes I do, I gave Jeremy something that should have been yours." She came closer to him and gazed deeply into his blue eyes.

"Dexter, we never did get to pop each other's cherries! How about we...pretend to do that now?" Her stare was so intense that Dexter had to look away.
"Katie, that was a lifetime ago I..." He could feel her still fixing her eyes on him, the yearning behind them was so hard to dismiss.
"I still love you Dexter Maloney, I never stopped. When I thought you'd cheated on me I...I was heartbroken! But I always had my doubts and now I know for sure you were one hundred percent faithful to me. And here you are..."

"...standing right in front of me looking so gorgeous and manly! You were just a boy the last time we kissed, the last time we touched! I'm loving the tattoos and the face fuzz Dexter it's...sexy...what a man you have become!" Her face was so close to his, he was taken in by memories of her and their time together when they were teenagers. To explore each other as adults was tempting...

...but he loved Lainie! Holding her at arms length, he fought the urge to give in and turned her down, "Katie, we had our chance. We're different people now, we're older and wiser and we don't love each other anymore."
"I do love you..."
"It's not love, it's nostalgia! Please don't taint our memories of happier and more innocent times. We were good back then, let's just remember that, yeah?" She nodded reluctantly in agreement.

They sat up nearly all night talking, she told him more about Jeremy and how he'd lied his way into her affections and eventually into her bed. After discussing her pregnancy and what she was going to do to get away from him, she changed her mind and decided she was keeping the baby. She'd always wanted to be a mother and she wasn't going to let Jeremy Price rob her of that chance. "I wish it was yours!" She sighed sadly, but Dex was relieved the baby wasn't his. He couldn't ever imagine being a father, especially not to Katie's child. "I'm sorry about your dad by the way, he was...well he was a really great man!"
"Yeah!" Dexter sighed, he was. A heck of a man to live up to!

He was shocked when she took off her make-up to reveal a pretty big shiner on her right eye. He wanted to go over and deal with Jeremy right then but Katie wouldn't allow it. It made him feel so helpless, but he secretly vowed to punch him one the next time he saw him and not tell him why. After all the shit he'd pulled with him he had plenty of reasons to do it. Katie had arranged to travel to Willow Creek and live with her grandmother where she would be safe. Dexter promised to keep her pregnancy secret, as well as her whereabouts.

As they stood at the front door, Dexter felt sad that this would probably be the last time he'd see sweet Katie again in a while, but happy they'd cleared the air after all those years. She leaned in and gave him a long, passionate kiss.

It felt lovely, all of his teenage feelings came flooding back for a moment and he was in the halls of Moonlight Falls High with Katie in his arms. Then another face invaded his mind, Evelyn Dawn Robertson...and he was back in the present.

As they broke apart, Katie smiled at him and whispered, "Had to have one for the road!" She winked, "Goodbye Dexter, thanks for everything you've been...wonderful!" And she was gone.

Lainie stood behind him looking shell shocked, "Who was that?" Her voice took on a shrill tone and she was white as a sheet. She was jealous, good!
"Um, just an old friend!" He smirked, and left her alone in the hall.

Lainie couldn't get the image of Dexter passionately kissing that pretty young woman at the door out of her head. It was early, she must have spent the night! So he had taken her words seriously and moved on already? Well that was that then!

She brought out her phone and dialed Alex's number, "Hey babe, I've missed you! How was Christmas with your olds?" Lainie felt numb, sad and totally unwanted.
"Great, Alex I missed you too and I...I need you! Can you come over?"
"Sure babe, I'll be right there!" Lainie hung up her phone and sighed, what the hell am I doing? She thought to herself. Well Dexter didn't want her but Alex did!

Dexter could hardly believe his eyes when Alex came sauntering up to Lainie's door, having just been let in by an unimpressed Charlotte. So his fears were true, she was still seeing that piece of shit. "Hey there painter boy! How you doin' mate?" Alex glowered at him, he couldn't stand to be anywhere near him and stormed back into his own room before he did something he would regret.

Alex was all over Lainie, and she let him do what he wanted, "I saw your painter boy out there, he's a right moody bastard isn't he?" Alex murmured between kisses.
"Dexy?" And now he was growling, gripping her tighter and it hurt.
"I wish you would stop calling him that, it's...stupid!"
"Yes, it is! I'll stop!"

"Alex?"
"Yeah babe!"
"Tell me you love me?"
"I love you, you know that!"
"Tell me you want me?"

"I want you, all the time I want you!" Lainie closed her eyes and thought of Dexter Maloney, he was telling her he loved her and he was telling her he wanted her, not Alex...

...that was how she was going to get through this. Alex was so rough with her, sometimes it was painful the way he handled her. He left finger marks and hand prints. But delving into her fantasy world where she and Dexter were together might make this ordeal all the more manageable.

After Alex left, Lainie cried for a very long time. She wasn't able to think about Dexter, this time Alex was extremely aggressive. Her whole body ached, not just the part he brutally tortured every time they had sex.

He'd grunted things like "You're mine!" and "Don't ever call him that again!", like the last time this felt like punishment. He was obviously punishing her for not contacting him the whole time she was away. She'd had missed calls and texts and she ignored them.

He also hated her calling Dexter by that pet name and with every painful thrust he would repeat those two sentences. Why did she call him? Because she was jealous and hurt over Dexter's new bedfellow. This torture went on for a good few hours at least, she thought he would never leave! This was what Alex Wilder considered as love?

She headed for the girls' bathroom so that she could sit in a nice hot bath and wash away Alex Wilder and his savage excuse for love making. She felt she deserved it though, she asked for it by asking him to come over! Didn't she? With every step she burned between her legs, why was he always so rough?

She sat in the hot water feeling stunned. If Roxy had come to her and told her that Matthew had done these things to her, Lainie would be the first to insist that she get as far away from him as possible. She knew that this behaviour wasn't right, it wasn't love and it certainly wasn't healthy!

She waited a little while and sobbed her heart out. She didn't want any of her housemates to see her upset. She had to get it out of her system, as the water stung. Although he was a little hard on her when they were together at university, the way Alex was behaving now was nothing she had ever experienced with him before. It was horrible!

After spending the rest of the day going through the motions of socialising with the gang, making dinner with Charlotte and pretending Dexter wasn't there, she got into her pyjamas and into bed. Just as she was dozing off, there was a knock at her door. "Freckles?" Oh no, she was not in the mood to fight with him tonight. After her ordeal with Alex, she didn't want any more anger or aggression from anyone else.

"Evelyn are you there?" She kept as quiet as she could, hoping he would leave. Eventually he did and she let out a long breath she had been holding in. She couldn't face him for several reasons, one being their heated talks yesterday and this morning and another being embarrassment that she contacted Alex after Dexter had specifically asked her not to.

He had been right all along, Alex was dangerous. But what was the point of anything anymore? Dexy had vague and unclear memories of her, he already moved on with a very beautiful blonde, it was over! She was never going to have him so why bother? She felt so down that she cried herself to sleep, hoping that tomorrow she could face Dexter and hold her head up high.

Ashton was none too pleased, as Dexter had predicted, about Katie sleeping in Erin's room. To make matters worse, he'd been calling and texting her all over Christmas and New Year and she wasn't answering any of them. Dex found himself sitting with his brother and trying to console him most of the time, it meant that he didn't have the chance to clear the air with Lainie and try again to get her away from Alex fucking Wilder!

Lainie had been very quiet of late and Dexter put it down to the fact that Alex was never away from her and that really pissed him off. She would barely speak to him, merely giving him one or two word answers and keeping her head down. Was she upset about Katie? She seemed it the other day when she saw her kissing him, it was a pretty intense kiss though. While he was daydreaming to himself, he heard Ash interrogating Roxy over Erin's departure.

She wasn't giving anything away and it was making him even more stressed, "I just wanna know if she's okay Roxy, please?"
"Look if I tell you she'll never trust me again!"
"So you are in contact with her?" Ash eyed her intently and she screwed her eyes shut while letting out an exasperated sigh.

"Yes, we keep in touch. She's really hurt Ash! You were so cruel to her at the hospital! I don't think she wants anything to do with you after that, I mean I wouldn't if I were her!" Man, she was really giving it to him, Dex thought. He was just happy that Roxy wasn't giving him a hard time for once.

After getting nowhere with Roxy, Ash stormed out of the dining room leaving Dex with Miss Mouth! "So aren't you even going to ask?" Dexter blinked at her, what did she mean by that?
"Huh?" Was all he could reply to her cryptic comment.
"About Lainie's cold shoulder! Or have you moved on already like she said you had?" He knew it was too good to be true that she hadn't given him a hard time for a while.
"Moved on? From what?"

"Look Maloney, I know you've got this whole amnesia thing going on but I really thought you knew where your heart was at!" She shook her head with a disappointed expression on her face.
"I do, I..."
"Who was the floozy then?"
"Hey, don't talk about Katie like that!" Roxy's eyes widened.

"KATIE? As in your ex Katie?" Dexter didn't feel he needed to justify himself to anyone, let alone Miss Mouth!
"Yes my ex, why? What's it to you?"
"Where the fuck did you dig her up from? Did you really have to look up one of your exes to hurt my best friend?" Hurt her? Never! But she was the one who wanted to forget about their brief social media love affair.

Dexter stood up to leave but not before attempting to put Roxy in her place, "For your information I tried to get Lainie to admit we were meant to be together and she shot me down! So I think you should give her the third degree not me!"
"You gave up too easily Maloney, shame on you!"

Dexter turned to face her with anger, "Why is it always me that has to work harder to get us together? Huh? Why do I have to fight her at every turn? Why can't she fight for me for once?" He recoiled in shock, he was remembering more! "Holy shit!"
"What? What is it?" Roxy looked genuinely concerned, everyone was since Dex started getting the headaches.
"My memory is starting to come back more! She always denies our feelings while I fight to unearth them, every fucking time Roxanne!" Roxy couldn't argue with that as she just nodded defeatedly, "And I've just about had enough! I will try ONCE more! Then I am really done!"

He left her alone to think about the part her best friend was playing in this whole situation, he wasn't shouldering all the blame, no way! "So you're just going to leave her with Alex?" Dexter didn't turn around but answered her flatly,
"Not my call Roxanne!" And he was right, why did she always go back to that slime ball?

Dexter was telling the truth when he said he would try once more, but if Lainie resisted again he was giving up. His heart could only take so many knocks, and there had been a few at the hands of Little Miss Freckles! He was remembering more and more the angrier he got, but he had a plan, one that would make Lainie tell him things. He hoped it would work, because this really was the last chance!

To Be Continued...

Next chapter, Dexter has a plan to spend time with Lainie that she simply cannot, or should not, refuse. However, this will open a whole new can of worms!
